Halloween

It's Halloween time again. my community (where i live) is having a trick-or-treat activity, mainly its aim is for children and kids. yes, they are going to be dressed in costumes and going to every house to collect sweets. and nope, me and my brother are not participating, obviously. lol. unfortunately, our range of candies here are not as vast and various like in the States and other countries. lol. that's so sad really, i love sweets so much, especially foreign sweets, it makes me go "oh, so cute and yummy!!!" =.="

it's such a pity that Halloween is not celebrated on a large scale here though. it would be really fun and awesome. but im thinking there would be activities held by colleges and universities and stuff, i remember Taylor's had one. hehe. anyway, Happy Halloween!!! =)

i dressed up as a pumpkin during Halloween a long long time ago. haha. i remember i was too afraid to go to the party that was held in the basement of the apartment i lived, too spooky. HAHA! for your amusement, here's the picture below. lol.

tadaaa!!!

Moonlight Resonance :: 溏心风暴之家好月圆

Moonlight Resonance, one of the best TVB drama i've ever watched, no kidding! and the highest rating TVB drama to date. It has basically no connection with Heart of Greed (溏心风暴) because it compiles of different characters, but it uses back all the same casts, with some new additions of actors. MR has a more cheerful and comedy tone than HOG (both parents passed away, and it was meaner and sometimes illogical) while in MR (to complement with the Mooncake Festival), it has a much much happier ending. and the good prevailed in the end, while those evil and mean characters all turned over a new leaf.

With the similar casts from HOG and a few additional casts, the actings would definitely deserve thumbs-up, absolutely fantastic, coming from several veterans and of course, the new generation of actors. The plot is quite different from HOG, the father didn't have 2 wives, he divorced, and he married again, but later on realised his 1st wife was still the best. they have 6 children, 3 each after the divorce. and there was a vast difference between the 2 families, one (the Gam family) became rich, another (the Chung household) was not so well-to-do but was living in happiness. and this time it has no concern about abalones but mooncakes, and traditional Hong Kong biscuits.

Besides that, MR has more dramatic, emotional, and touching scenes and moments than HOG, that would almost make you cry. Unlike Taiwan dramas, Hong Kong dramas are more to reality, and you can find it in MR. Personally, i prefer MR over HOG, but there are some parts i still liked better in HOG, like the relationship between Tak Tak Tei (得得地 by Moses Chan) and Sheung Joy Sum (常在心 by Linda Chung) and Alfred (程亮 by Raymond Lam). Both pairings were so cute together!! ~~~

and of course there were scenes fighting over the family fortune in the end, as the father decided to divorce his present wife and reunite with his 1st wife. love triangle relationships, Moses Chan-Tavia Yeung-Kate Tsui and Raymond Lam-Linda Chung-Bosco Wong. They focused alot more on Ray-Linda-Bosco rather than how the love relationship between Moses and Tavia blossomed which was quite a pooper. i wanted to see more of Moses and Tavia together, nice chemistry!! but well, since Ray and Linda couldn't get together in HOG, so, i think they decided to add more in MR, and of course! they ended up together. love them. they're like the golden couple on-screen, so matching!! *wakakakaka*

the ending is even more memorable than HOG (where the last scene it showed Moses and Linda getting together, and running in the colourful rain), so i liked the MR ending scene better. and it had peaked 50, the scenes involving Yan Hong and her daughter Yu Sou Chao. also, it gave a full explanation of how everybody turned out to be after 4 years. lol.

Let's get down to the characters.

(李司琪) Louise Lee as Hor ma (钟笑荷)
Her character is still as wise, full with wisdom, kind, caring and strict, serious as it was in HOG. it's pretty much the same actually. She portrayed the role perfectly as the best mother her children could ever have. she is understanding and protective over her family, and tries her best to keep her children united whenever their stepmother gives them trouble. Louise Lee has no problem in playing the role of a kind mother as i've seen her in this role for many times already, but it stills touches my heart deeply, she is what that keeps the family together. has a saying by her children, " 荷妈在大厅,吾使怕 (hor ma hai dai teng, mm sai keng) ", when there's Hor ma, there's no need to be afraid.

(米雪) Michelle Yim as Yan Hong (殷红)
the evil stepmother. the woman who destoyed the Gam family's happiness. the main troublemaker. always trying to make trouble for the Chung family whenever her husband gets too close to them. she was so full of vengeance towards the end, that she won the court case and got 70% of the share of the shop, and even pushed their grandma off the stairs, resulting in her death. in the end, she went to jail for 3 years and turned over a new leaf. Michelle Yim did an excellent job here portraying the evil one. so evil i feel like slapping her. lol. in the final episode, she was really good when she was betrayed by her daughter, Yu Sou Chao (with good intentions), she was trying to hold back her emotions, not crying, still trying to be tough, but she was just sadden why her daughter would do that. awesome.

(夏雨) Ha Yu as Jou bao (甘泰祖)
at first, he is indecisive, and gets influenced easily by other peoples' words. he is full of regret by what he has done in the past 12 years, the divorce and everything after knowing how Yan Hong had treated his 3 children who had followed him after the divorce. therefore, he tries his best to repay his heartless deeds, and remains a very close relationship with his 6 children, always having dinner, and fooling around with them. a likable character, and he changed his ways to protect his children, and got back together with Hor ma in the end, just like how their children wanted. Ha Yu's perfomance is just as good as well, it is well-known he has good acting skills. the way he feels all sorry for his children, Hor ma, how he feels so happy with his children and all of a sudden he turns sorrow for what he did to them. neat.

(李香琴) Li Heung Kam as Ma Ma (grandma - 佘君丽)
A stubborn grandma at first. wants to have all her 6 grandchildren in her house. but later turns a soft-heart, and accepted the fact that, although her 6 grandchildren can't be with her forever, she will always be in their hearts. she's is just jealous of Hor ma, how she gets all the love from her children, but of course they love their grandma as well. some old folks are just like that. =.=" good job here from Li Heung Kam as well. lol.

(周驄) Chow Chung as Gong Gong (grandpa - 鍾泛達)
Hor ma's father, the kids grandpa. he has quite a funny role here, but gives in too much to his youngest daughter, Sa yi, gets influenced by what she says every time. lol. however, he is nominated for the Best Supporting Actor in the 2008 TVB Anniversary Awards.

(关菊英) Suzanna Kwan as Sa yi (钟笑莎)
Hor ma's younger sister, not biologically though. i couldn't really stand her voice in the beginning of the show as she's very very talkative(so piercing and high), telling lies, taking advantage of people and stuff. Very money-minded and even betrayed her sister. however, towards the 2nd half of the show, she learned a very valuable lesson, when she found out she wasn't her dad's biological daughter, she turned over a new leaf, but to her horror and misery, her daughter was following her evil footsteps. Suzanna Kwan is just good in playing this type of roles, but in HOG she was meaner. lol.

(陈豪) Moses Chan as Ah Ka (甘永家)
The eldest son. His role here is definitely different from HOG, although both characters are cheerful, happy-go-lucky, but there is a more playful touch in this show. he was kinda oblivious towards his family in the beginning of the show, always playing with shares, but in the end, he quit, because of his mother's pleas and his sister, Ah Yuet (Tavia Yeung). he grew more and more concerned about his family later on. had a love relationship with Ga Mei (Kate Tsui) but dumped her because she carried out her evil intentions to hurt Ah Yuet. Moses is always great at doing comical and silly stuff, even the way he talks is plain funny. lol.

(林峰) Raymond Lam as Ah Hou aka Goon Kar Chai (甘永好)
the second son. He was more yeng in HOG, haha, super yeng, but still good looking in MR, just that not stylish only. lol. he is like the man in the house, always taking good care of his family and protecting them. have a really good relationship with Yu Sou Chao (Linda Chung) since they were young, it's like first love for both of them actually. a very filial son and grandson, sacrificing his studies because he wanted to help out in his mother's shop. I have no comment about Lam Fung's acting, but he was good in portraying the honest, kind Goon Kar Chai who only wanted Yu Sou Chao to be happy with her boyfriend, Dr. Ling (Bosco Wong).

(杨怡) Tavia Yeung as Ah Yuet (甘永月)
The adopted daughter of the family, therefore, she can be with Ah Ka. She's strong on the outside, but quite fragile and soft in the inside. but still, she is very strong-minded, always voicing out, standing up and defending for herself and others. everybody loves her very much even though she's an adopted child. IMO, i love Tavia's character here, very bold, stubborn at times, but always having good intentions, and it was so frustrating to see her get set up by Ga Mei. i was hoping there were more on-screen time just only for Moses and Tavia's character!! ahh, but that didn't happen, sad. and Tavia's acting was excellent as well, and she looked very pretty! she just keeps improving. awesome. one of my favourite characters.

(黎诺懿) Chris Lai as Ah Yuen (甘永圆)
His character didn't really develop much here compared to HOG. he was not around most of the time with the family which was all Yan Hong's plan, having him flying to some other place so that he wouldn't get to be close with his siblings. he claimed that he was closer to Yan Hong instead of Hor ma, as he thought he caused Yan Hong's miscarriage last time, but finally learned the truth about it. also, he was forced to corroborate with Yan Hong as he got into a car accident causing a death of a person, and she bribed the authorities there to release him. everything prevailed in the end. and he ended up with Ga Mei.

(陈法拉) Fala Chen as Ah Hing (甘永庆)
Im not a fan of Fala Chen to be honest, i can't really bear to watch her characters in other TVB dramas, always playing the not so welcoming role, or how to say, sluts. but she's very pretty though. her character here really caught my eye (but im still NOT a fan), as she plays a dumb but not deaf person. even though she can't talk, i find her role pretty eye-catching. because she has to be more focused on her facial expression and the eyes especially, not bad really.

Vincent Wan as Zhong Chai (甘永中)
the youngest son and child. a newcomer i guess. he was sent away to UK for his studies at the age of 12 i think, i can't really remember, the idea of Yan Hong as well. more of a lonely person, but gets better, more cheerful when he decided to stay with Hor ma and his older siblings.

(钟嘉欣) Linda Chung as Yu Sou Sum aka Yu Sou Chao (于素心 aka 于素秋)
i heart Linda Chung, totally!! she's very very cute and pretty as well. XD although i preferred her role in HOG as Sheung Joy Sum, as her character developed very nicely in there. and what's up with the hair, centre parting, it doesn't suit her, where's her cute hair she haves in other TVB series. hmph. Yu Sou Chao is different from her mother, Yan Hong. she feels guilty for her mother destroying Jou bao's and Hor ma's family in the 1st place but is very very close to Hor ma and the others as well, especially Goon Kar Chai. However, she gets all mixed up and confused as she was caught in between Goon Kar Chai and Dr. Ling. her crying scenes are really good, i remember it made me all sad and teary in HOG when Alfred died. In MR, she cries too much that all netizens called her a crybaby here. lol. her acting skills just keep improving and improving, one of the brightest actress in the future, so move aside Charmaine Sheh, here comes Linda Chung! lol. in the last episode, she was just great as she decided to give her mother, Yan Hong a lesson, in a good way. that scene peaked 50. awesome. and obviously she ended up with Goon Kar Chai, if not i would protest!!! haha. they look so yummy together. lol.

(黄宗泽) Bosco Wong as Dr. Ling (凌至信)
i totally didn't like Bosco's character here. he had a girlfriend and still he had to get close to Yu Sou Chao. hmph. making Yu Sou Chao all so sad and confused. lol. anyway, he's still a good person as he decided to help Yu Sou Chao to teach her mother a lesson. he's just a guest cast in this show, as he had another show to work on.

(徐子珊) Kate Tsui as Ga Mei (路嘉美)
Honestly, i don't like Kate Tsui, and i don't know why. her acting cute and all when she was together with Ah Ka gave me goosebumps in a bad way, i just can't bear to watch. but she's pretty good at being evil, maybe it's her eyes or something. lol. her character is so uber evil!! just like her mother, Sa Yi at 1st, maybe even worst, when she started to betray Sa Yi and went over to Yan Hong's side. ughhh. luckily Ah Ka was clever enough to dump her. lol.

This is definitely a series that can't be missed!~~ with all the super cast and the super acting, MR is just superb!!

Edited* Congratulations to Michelle Yim and Ha Yu for winning Best Actress and Best Actor respectively and also Tavia Yeung for bagging away the Best Supporting Actress award. =)

actually...

I want to watch xxxHolic, yet Megavideo is not budging, it keeps getting stuck after 6 seconds or even 23 seconds. such a pity really. i guess i have to wait till Friday, 12 a.m. on Animax.

I feel like watching High School Musical 3: Senior Year in the cinema (yeah, cheesy huh) after listening to the soundtrack, what can i say, i guess these are the best songs in the trilogy. Even the song "I Want It All" by Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel is the best song from Sharpay and Ryan. lol. and the duet between Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens for "Can I Have This Dance" is beautiful as well. but the trailer gave me chills especially the part in the basketball court, (a little in a bad way) and i don't feel like wasting money...

my 2 favourite characters from anime Keroro Gunso : Dororo (light blue) and Tamama!!

see how Tamama's eyes changes, red veins come out when he's all angry, or provoked, double personality. and then he gives out his Tamama Impact, a super "abugae", (ya know? Dragon Ball, that round power force thingy) HAHA!

P.S. shit, im starting to lose my mind and there's no substance in my topics anymore. not like there always was. lol.

魔杰座 [Mo Jie Zuo] :: Jay Chou

Jay Chou's ninth album, 魔杰座 (Mo Jie Zuo). It means the combination between magic and music. It's weird but i don't know what is the English name for this album, because 魔杰座 is taken from the horoscope 魔蝎座 (Capricorn), and it's not written on the album cover, usually they do, so well, whatever then.

His first single, 稻香 (Dao Xiang) or Fragrance of Rice is the last song in this album. The lyrics are meaningful, it connects with people as it conveys the message of being grateful in life and appreciate everything you have, and it reminds people of childhood memories as well.

the 2nd single, 说好的幸福呢 (Shuo Hao De Xing Fu Ne) or Where is the Promised Happiness is kinda like a soft-rock, sad and sorrow love song. As the title suggests, it's about how the love between a couple drifted apart. my favourite song in this album. and it kinda reminds me of...

the 1st song in the album is 龙战骑士 (Long Zhan Qi Shi) or Dragon Fighter?!? my brother says it's Masked Rider (ya know, the green mask insect guy) LOL but i doubt it. i like the rhythm of this song though. it uses electronic guitar. it depicts about war, a must have style in every Jay Chou's album. lol.

给我一首歌的时间 (Gei Wo Yi Shou Ge De Shi Jian) or Give Me the Time of A Song. A R&B love song, some kind of confessing and pronouncing love to your special one. yeah, right...

蛇舞 (She Wu) or Snake Dance. a collaboration with Lara from Nanquan Mama. i totally dislike this song. wth. the opening is some kind of like Indian or maybe Egyptian thingy. ughhh. me don't like.

花海 (Hua Hai) or Ocean Flowers. a soothing song again. let's not talk about the contents, but the technique he used to perform this song. at the chorus, there would be a part where he sounded like his vocals went haywire, as in his pitching went wrong, but he was showing a vocal transition, from his real voice to the fake voice...

魔术先生 (Mr. Magician) and 乔克叔叔 (Uncle Joker) heck this 2 songs sounded like it was for kids, especially that Mr. Magician song, the rhythm is like dancers wearing tuxedo dancing with the stick and taking off their hats, very jazzy kinda style. (ya know what i mean?). the Joker song is still quite bearable, with a classic sentence, "Batman wouldn't be a box office no. 1 if there wasn't the presence of Joker. lol.

兰亭序 (Lan Ting Xu) nope i don't know the meaning of this song, a traditional Chinese-style song, a must-have style in every album as well. sigh. the lyrics are so deep that i tak faham -leh. thanks to Fang Wen Shan, the lyricist. im just impressed. teehee.

流浪诗人 (Liu Lang Shi Ren) or The Wandering Poet. this is a half Mandarin, and half Hokkien song. love the style of it. im very curious of Hokkien songs. haha. a duet with newcomer, Gary, nope it is not Gary Chaw kay...

时光机 (Shi Guang Ji) or Time Machine. heart this song too. it's something like the time machine in the Doraemon comic, with that flying bamboo that you fix on the head, and Doraemon's wonder pocket. haha! cute song.

Critics say that Jay Chou's talent is disappearing, and they slammed this album along with some web users. but i guess, what can i say? how many notes are there? only 7 with different pitches and tones. he's still making good music. IMO, his best days were still his 1st four albums, where the probability of listening to it over and over again is super high, classic i say. but some things just need changes, right. how drastic is the change, or how little is it, it all depends on individuals' taste, it's all subjective.

Rain rain go away ~~

" Rain rain, go away,
come again, another day... "
It's been raining every afternoon, that i can't seem to go for swimming, i can't go online, and i can't download Heroes! blah! how "nice" the weather it has been. and as im typing this, the sky begins to darken. =.="

As i lay in my bed during midnight, after the rain interrupting me viewing Youtube, flashes of lightning strikes through the sky, so bright like fireworks, yet it looks scary, and scurrying behind it were the roaring and growling sounds of thunder, so horribly deafening, very very loud. I wouldn't budge abit in my bed, afraid that the thunder would strike me. but i know that if my conscience is clear, i shouldn't be apprehensive at all!

So, the roaring thunder accompanied me to sleep, half-asleep and half-awake i slipped into my dreams. Goodnight!

命中注定我爱你 :: Fated To Love You

命中注定我爱你 :: Fated To Love You or You're My Destiny is a romantic comedy starring 陈乔恩 (Joe Chen Qiao En), 阮经天 (Ethan Ruan Jing Tian), 陈楚河 (Baron Chen Chu He), and 白歆惠 (Bianca Bai Xin Hui).

Well, i don't normally watch Taiwan Idol dramas as in 台湾偶像剧, because sometimes i think it's just too cheesy and far-fetched. lol. but of course, this TV serial is an exception, and this is my 2nd Taiwan Idol drama. =)

Reasons why i decided to watch ? and why i got addicted to it ? =.="

1. Firstly, even though you are not a fan of Taiwanese shows, this is still recommended because, really, it's a very very nice show.
2. This is the highest rating drama in Taiwan, broke all records, no kidding!
3. It has been featured in a US magazine, comparing it to Ugly Betty, but of course, the female lead here is more comfortable to the eyes. =.=" and it has a completely different story.
4. Acting from all actors -- fantastic! Especially the both leads, Joe Chen and Ethan Ruan, and of course a few of the veteran actors who played Joe Chen's mother, Lin Mei Xiu and Ethan Ruan's grandma, Tan Ai Zhen. and the supporting casts are super good as well!
5. Comprise many very very touching, moving and special moments.
6. The 1st time ever they went for shooting overseas, in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China.
7. The 1st ever hot HOT HOT bed scene in the 1st episode!!
8. The male lead character is not similar to other dramas, where he is more of childish, a little bit selfish, hot tempered, comical, and terrible in fighting.
9. The female lead character is definitely fresh, very stupidly selfless.
10. and of course! this is an Idol drama, there are definitely eye candies with smooth acting, Baron Chen and Bianca Bai.
11. It garnered 6 nominations for the 2008 43rd Taiwan Golden Bell Awards, and achieved 2 awards, Best Drama and Best Marketing. the 1st that happened in Taiwan Idol drama.
12. AND the chemistry between Joe Chen and Ethan Ruan is 100% perfect, very very cute together. ^^

:: from left to right standing :: Ethan Ruan, Baron Chen :: from left to right sitting :: Joe Chen, Bianca Bai

The first half of the story describes how Chen Xin Yi (Joe Chen) got into the wrong room while on a ship cruise, and accidentally had a one night stand with a stranger, Ji Cun Xi (Ethan Ruan), and she got pregnant. Cun Xi was forced to marry her. It shows how the love between Xin Yi and Cun Xi blossoms. The way Xin Yi loves Cun Xi, such a difficult love, and yet it was abit romantic at times when Cun Xi was slowly falling for Xin Yi.

:: both met on the cruise ::

It became complicated in the middle, as Cun Xi's girlfriend, Anna (Bianca Bai) came back and havoc erupted. It was just the saddest part of all, they lost their baby because of a car accident, 纪念品 (Ji Nian Pin) translated as "souvenier" (IMO, i think it's a meaningful name). Their acting in that scene is just so surreal, you feel so melancholy and touched. After the incident, Xin Yi went off to Shanghai with Dylan (Baron Chen) to start over a new life.

Over the 2 years, Xin Yi transformed into a confident woman while Cun Xi became more matured. Towards the end, Cun Xi still haven't changed his childish ways, trying all means to win Xin Yi's heart back, very hilarious and stupid at the same time but very entertaining though. lol.

:: the transformation of Xin Yi ::

Joe Chen Qiao En as 陈欣怡 (Chen Xin Yi)

Chen Xin Yi is what they call a Post-It note girl, because she always obeys everything everybody ask her to do, which she always never says no, therefore, everybody always take advantage of her kindness. She cares about how people would think about her, therefore, she works really hard to make people like her, sometimes tend to fall for people easily whenever someone treats her good. lol.

Only one word can be described in how she portrayed Chen Xin Yi -- brilliant!!! Awesome performance and acting, every action, behaviour, emotion felt so natural, so real, you feel like it is indeed her real personality, but there is a very vast difference, off-screen, Qiao En is a very straightforward, active, independent person. The way she played Xin Yi's soft, kind-hearted, full with compassion just melts your heart, although sometimes you would feel she is just very stupid, too selfless in many ways (i can't resist myself from yeeling at the screen sometimes), i really love her performance. Those little actions she played are just naturally funny, and super cute, you can't resist to giggle and laugh abit. lol. Her crying scenes were all beautifully done, can't help but to be touched by it. Her feelings when she was always let down by Cun Xi, and yet she couldn't let Cun Xi see through her, keeping it all inside her heart, man, it's all so sad. There was this part where she was about to lose her baby, her expression, begging Cun Xi not to sign the abortion paper, damn, it was so devastating that i can't help but shed a few tears, really! Qian En's and Ethan's acting were so genuine, it was so freaking touching. and i find that Chen Qiao En is really pretty ^^. Really hope she would win Best Actress in the 2008 Taiwan Golden Bell awards. and btw, she and Ethan have perfect chemistry!!!

Ethan Ruan Jing Tian as 纪存希 (Ji Cun Xi)

Ji Cun Xi hails from a very rich family, and is the head of a huge company. His character is childish yet responsible and charming and a very gentle man. needs anger-management classes because of his hot-tempered-ness. and quite indecisive in love matters.

I heart this handsome and cute hunk ever since i watched Green Forest My Home! His charming demeanor! *shrieks and faints*. He really improved alot, it's very good that they gave him the golden opportunity to play the lead role, it really suits him. Really hilarious at being a klutz, and brilliant at comedy scenes, it's just so funny, and he did good at emotional scenes as well. Like the way he always stares at Xin Yi, just how much pain he felt when Xin Yi told him that they were just strangers. The look on his face when he knew he was about to lose their baby. His face is just full of expressions, and with his thick, caterpillar-like eyebrows, it's even more hilarious in those funny scenes, he looks so comical, his facial expression is just priceless! and i love love the chemistry between him and Qiao En.

Baron Chen Chu He as Dylan

He is like a guardian to Chen Xin Yi, always protecting her and helping her, and he loves her as well. Transformed Xin Yi, changing her image and all. A very cool, calm-headed, rational character, suits Baron i guessed, though i don't really think he got a chance to shine his acting skills here, but still, very smooth acting.

Bianca Bai as Anna

She is actually Dylan's long-lost sister, her name is also actually Xin Yi. lol. I think Bianca did an OK job only, really. Half of the time, her scenes with Cun Xi, it seems like she's just acting cute and all, which turned into quite a reverse effect. Well, she's still quite new in acting i guess, she started as a model in Taiwan, haven't really grasp the technique of acting yet. Her character, Anna, is quite selfish, leaving Cun Xi for her ballet, and forged Cun Xi's name and gave Xin Yi an abortion letter. Quite evil actually, but what can i say? love is blind, you can't seem to think rationally sometimes.

Fated To Love You OST

All the songs match perfectly in the scenes of this drama. Although the background music was not as much as Green Forest My Home, but still excellent songs, simple rhythm but it touches deep inside your heart, cute and warm. but i can't seem to find it in the CD stores!! T.T hmph.

Overall, i really love LOVE this drama. Best drama i've ever watched this year, of course, alongside with TVB's Moonlight Resonance, another awesome Hong Kong drama.
