Glee

Have you watch Glee yet?

You HAVE to watch it!

Why?

Because,

1. Glee has been hailed as one of the best new shows to come out last year by the American critics.
2. Time magazine ranked Glee 8th on its "Best TV Show of The Year" list.
3. It has been amazingly well-received by viewers - making it the best scripted drama to premiere on Fox TV network in 3 years.
4. It seems the premiere has beaten out House MD when it first premiered.
5. It got renewed for the 2nd season! and 9 more episodes from Season 1 is due to air on April 13th! YES!
6. Now the big ones, Glee won the "Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy" (beating out veterans like Mad Men, 30 Rock etc) in this year's Golden Globe Awards, and 3 other nominations for Best Actor (Matthew Morrison), Best Actress (Lea Michele) and Best Supporting Actress (Jane Lynch) in musical or comedy.
7. Won the "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in A Comedy Series" in this year's 16th Annual Screen Actor Guilds Awards.
8. Won the "Favorite New TV Comedy" in this year's 36th People Choice Awards.
9. and i truly believe that there are more to come! (:

Yes. Glee is a high school comedy drama. It is about a dying Glee club (show choir) in McKinley High, and the school's Spanish teacher Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), a former Glee clubber himself is young and zealous and has high hopes of turning the school's existing dismal Glee club around. The Glee club is named "New Directions" and he goes out recruiting members, competing in school, district, and state level Glee competitions.

The problem is, the Glee club's status is like the sub-basement in the school, where it is joined only by the school geeks. Basically, it is social suicide!

Despite all that, Mr Schuester manages to recruit a motley, diverse group of talented students. Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), an amazing, egotistical singer, whose parents are gay. Handsome quaterback Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith), an unlikely member of Glee. The bootilicious fashionista Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley). Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), a gay who thinks highly of himself yet is constantly bullied by the jocks. The Asian girl with stutter issues, Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz), and the talented wheelchair-bound, bespectacled geek Artie Abrahms (Kevin McHale). They are later joined by Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron), the cheerleader captain and Noah "Puck" Puckerman (Mark Salling) the hot football player.

There is another character and the villain of Glee, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), the cheerleading martinet who is determine to bring the Glee club down and one of the worst teachers i have ever seen on screen!

All high school fare have similar themes, and revolves around the same issues like relationships, pregnancy, cliques (bitchy mean girls who are cheerleaders, jocks, and of course the losers, geeks), family issues, drugs, alcohol, teen angst...

Wait, if you're thinking "Oh, High School Musical -lah."

NO! Please, Glee is a thousand times awesome than HSM. In fact, they should never ever be compared at all with HSM because it is in no league with Glee! (being the superior one of course!).

Because?

Glee doesn't suddenly break into songs in a crowd, they either just perform on stage in the auditorium, or rehearsing or it is just the character's inner monologue, imagining that they are performing in the auditorium.

And the songs performed are way better than HSM! Ranging from oldies to Broadway music to modern pop songs! and the remake of the songs are breathtaking!

and the BEST? Glee has the most amazing, talented cast! (:

Glee is a mixture of emotions. It has really funny, hilarious, comedic moments, yet there's deep, dark relatable moments, and heartwarming touches that reaches deeply into your heart, all cleverly transferred and described into rearranged tunes and cute choreography, with awesome acting and cheeky, edgy, funny lines, and thematic storylines!

The whole FUN thing in Glee?

First and foremost, watching Lea Michele, her amazing voice, and the cast members belting out songs, it just makes you move your body to beat and sing along! With songs like Somebody To Love (Queen), Keep Holding On (Avril Lavigne), Don't Stop Believing (Journey), Push It (Salt n Pepper), Jump (Van Halen), Smile (Charlie Chaplin), Imagine (John Lennon), You Can't Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones), Proud Mary (Tina Turner) and lots more! It's awesome!

The characters are just too funny individually, they all have their unique, special attitude and hilarious entertaining moments - kudos to all the actors! (:

The students.

Lea Michele as Rachel Berry

Rachel Berry, an unnoticeable (which i find it quite hard to believe!), not considered pretty by her looks is a member of Glee with a huge talent, but she's ambitious and egotistical, and she has gay parents which kinda make things worse. besides, she always puts a star beside her name. LOL.

IMO, Lea Michele totally owned this character! Her acting is so good! It's like it's specifically written for her. Honestly, i didn't feel much empathy for Rachel Berry in the beginning, as she appeared selfish, conceited, and always storming out from Glee in the first few episodes, but as the episodes go by, Rachel Berry really grew on me! I just like her more and more! I love her! She is just focused, driven and determine, she knows her goals and goes for it without caring about what other people's thinking. Yes, her attitude does change for the better as time goes by, when she realizes that Glee is not just about her being the star but it is everybody's moment to shine and have fun!

Her performance in the 13th episode for Don't Rain On My Parade (Barbra Streisand) was just pure, pure breathtaking, fantastic and spectacular. I am so overwhelmed when they performed at the sectionals competition! Bravo! Her freaking amazing, awesome voice (which i have come to LOVE after Kelly Clarkson), coming from Broadway, she is just so versatile, performing songs from Rihanna (Take A Bow), Celine Dion (Taking Chances), Jordin Sparks (No Air), Kelly Clarkson (My Life Would Suck Without You), Idina Menzel from Wicked (Defying Gravity), Lily Allen (Smile), On My Own (Le Miserables) etc. When she sings it's like ecstasy, you want more and more! The best voice in Glee! and Lea Michele is such a hottie and beautiful girl i don't really understand why the high school boys are not all over her in the show. LOL!

Cory Monteith as Finn Hudson

Finn Hudson is the hot nice jock who has a passion for singing and struggles between performing and playing football. Finn is a little bit shallow and dumb but he does have his own views and principles and opinions which are really helpful. He has feelings for Rachel but they haven't really work it out yet because of his girlfriend, Quinn Fabray. Cory Monteith is one cute guy. I think he's pretty good in playing Finn with a dumb blur look on his face and sometimes being the one who's got the guts to stand up for somebody and himself. His voice is pretty good as well considering he has no singing background, and when he dances it's so cute and awkward (because he's really huge and tall). Plus, Lea and Cory have really really good chemistry together!

Amber Riley as Mercedes Jones

Amber Riley has the second best voice in Glee! Her voice is quite comparable to Jennifer Hudson, as she has performed the song And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going from Dream Girls. It's so awesome it gave me goosebumps! Man, she is a powerhouse! What's more, she participated in American Idol around 7 years ago but was turned down by the producers (she didn't even reach the judges!) and now she's one of the rising stars of Glee! Haha, right in their faces! (:

As for her character, Mercedes Jones, a fantastic singer but not as strong as Rachel Berry, thus only landing on back-up spots and her displeasure shows when she snaps, "I'm Beyonce, I ain't no Kelly Rowland!" LOL! She initially had feelings for Kurt, but he confessed to her that he's gay, and they remained as best friends.

Chris Colfer as Kurt Hummel

Chris Colfer is one funny cutie! He did such a great job with Kurt Hummel! Definitely he owns his character, because the producer Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) was so impressed with his audition that he specifically wrote the role for Chris, erasing an Indian character. LOL. The character is gay and into fashion and into himself and the scene when he confesses to his father is beautifully done, and everybody should be proud of who they are. and in the pilot where he sang the song Mr. Cellophane is so good, it's funny! and besides, he has a crush on Finn!

Jenna Ushkowitz as Tina Cohen-Chang

Jenna Ushkowitz has an awesome voice as well. Man, i tell you, all of them are just super talented -lah. Her character is somehow like a gothic punk rocker who has confidence issues but she was faking the stutter as she was a very shy girl so she wanted to push everybody away from her, she confessed this to Artie during their first date, and Artie was so hurt, it didn't work out! Aww, i wonder why every couple doesn't seem to really work out. LOL. It's just sad, i hope there would be more development later on!

Kevin McHale as Artie Abrahms

Kevin McHale is one handsome dude (He's from a former boyband), although he looks geeky and stuff but he has one really sexy, deep voice! His voice stands out the most between the guys, of course alongside with Chris Colfer as well. Basically, his character is wheelchair-bound and it's such a pity because it seems he's the best dancer in the Glee cast! LOL.

Dianna Agron as Quinn Fabray

Quinn is the captain of the Cheerios (cheerleaders), her boyfriend is Finn, and she's this mean, bitch girl (in the beginning) who's also the president of the Celibacy club, having good results in school, but later got pregnant - the father? Puckerman! as a result of getting drunk and making a mistake by sleeping with him. Though gradually, she came to love Glee just about as everybody else, along with her 2 cheerleading friends, Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) and Brittany (Heather Morris), where they all realized their passion for performing and who are their true friends. Her attitude does change abit (for the better of course). (: Dianna Agron is such a pretty girl! and she seems like a really sweet, intelligent blonde!

Mark Salling as Noah "Puck" Puckerman

Puck is the badass in McKinley High, responsible for the many slushies (Slurpees) thrown on Rachel Berry's face (the unpopular students get it) but he got the feel of being slushed at after he joined the Glee club, and he's a member of the football team. Initially he joins Glee because he wants to be closer to Quinn (being the father of the baby), but later he had a brief relationship with Rachel Berry, and it's just so funny! Mark Salling is one hot guy!, and IMO he is a better singer than Cory. LOL. When he sang that Sweet Caroline song (Neil Diamond), with his guitar, it was quite irresistible, and sexy!

The teachers.

Matthew Morrison as Will Schuester

Matthew Morrison is just perfect in his role for Will Schuester, the enthusiastic Spanish teacher at McKinley High who hopes to revive the school's lackluster Glee club. Matthew Morrison has something in his eyes, which is just filled with kindness or gentle-ness that is so cute! plus he's always trying all sort of ways to convey his inspiration and his lessons to the Glee kids, yet sometimes he does it in wrong way but it does serve its purpose in the end. The scene where he did a duet with Rachel Berry singing Endless Love (Lionel Richie & Diana Ross), it was so gaspingly hilarious, his expression and all, terrified by Rachel's gradually growing crush on him while singing the song. Awesome! and Lea Michele is so funny in that scene as well! Matthew Morrison is from Broadway, he does have a great voice and the rap songs he does in Glee works out quite well! Nice!

Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester

Jane Lynch is impeccable as the mean-as-a-pill teacher! Man, she's just so horrible you feel like giving her a punch in the face! But at the same time her lines are just snappy, snarky, funny, and plain plain plain mean! and of course, when she fails to bring Glee down, you just feel superbly happy thinking, "Hah, right in your face!". Her character just adds spice to Glee. But even though
she is pure evil, she does have her soft side shown when she allowed a Down Syndrome girl to be in her cheerleading squad and a scene showing her having a touching moment with her Down Syndrome sister, it just gets to you deep down. In the end, she gets suspended from McKinley High as a result of leaking out the Glee's setlist to other schools who are competing for the sectionals. but i am sure she will be back for more plans to pull the Glee club down!

Jayma Mays as Emma Pillsbury

Emma Pillsbury is a guidance counsellor in McKinley High and she's a mysophobic (pathological fear of contact with dirt), and she has romantic feelings for Mr. Will Schuester. I love Jayma Mays's character! It's just as funny as the others! With her round, doleful eyes, it just adds the cuteness in it. Sometimes she just pops out her lines and it's funny. (: and i like the way she talks all fast whenever she's feeling shy or overwhelmed by Mr. Schuester, and her huge round as buttons eyes. HAHA! and she has a nice voice too! i didn't know she could sing! Hope to see more of her and Mr. Schuester together.

Glee is so awe-inspiring as it's about chasing your dreams and passion and never giving up! It makes you jump with delight and joy with the cast and wish you were in Glee club too! or musicals!

Glee is awesome!

*man, i am such a sucker for musicals!* Glee and Lea Michele are my new loves now. LOL!

Watch it!

(:
