So, today, we had this lecture about the diseases of the Oesophagus.
and there was this Gastrooesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) which basically means there's a flow of gastric juice from the stomach to the oesophagus.
Apparently, this is a physiological process (normal) in infants till they're 1 years old.
Like during feeding of breast milk, whatsoever, the baby's oesophagus and stomach will all be flat, because of the way they are cradled of course!
and then this GORD might occur if you don't carry the baby straight up and pat their backs.
So, now i know, this is the use of getting the babies to Burp after feeding.
I've always wondered why.
