Sherlock Holmes (2009)

Sherlock Holmes. One of the most anticipated movie of the year 2009.

and all i can say is, there just isn't any room of disappointment, GREAT movie!

Robert Downey Jr., GREAT actor and he is so cool.

Jude Law, he is so handsome and yeng.

Rachel McAdams, she is so pretty and hot and yeng. (:

i love it.

Exciting actions and fighting scenes. plus prediction of the enemy's weakness by Sherlock Holmes in slow-mo and how he's gonna whack them up before he knocks them down. ~awesome!

Clear cut scenes and the editing of the movie is beautifully done as well.

Full with comedy humour, excellent performance by Robert Downey Jr., plus his hilarious expressions.

CSI -like investigations with full scientific explanations, the only difference is that the movie is based in year 1891 in London.

Perfect chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. *This is random, but House's (Hugh Laurie) and Wilson's (Robert Sean Leonard) friendship are based on Sherlock Holmes's and Watson's friendship.* =P *and House is based on Holmes as well!*

Love the bickering and bantering between Robert Downey Jr. and Rachel McAdams. Nice chemistry!

Good story flow. Indicates a sequel. *i am secretly hoping for*

Excellent music score as it goes well with the scenes.

and of course good acting from the actors as well! (:

One of the best movies in my list for 2009!

Go watch it now! (:

Next one i am hoping to watch - The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus!

Focus Japan :: 19/11/09

We arrived at the Kansai airport, Osaka at around 6 something in the morning Japan time after a blurry (for me) 6-hour journey. It seems taking air sick pills make me drowsy (from what i have learned from Pharmacology, anti-histamines). LOL. and i was sleeping all the way while my brother was playing games all the way. =.="

.the Kansai airport.

.bad hair. bad skin colour. *still want to sleep*

Today we would be spending the whole day at Universal Studios Osaka.

.the entrance to the Universal Studios Japan.

.they have already started the Christmas decoration even though it's only November.

.the Universal Studios globe.

.The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman - The Ride.

.the most awesome ride of all in Universal Studios Japan. It's a 3D ride where you sit in a buggy and it moves around, and there are all sorts of villians like Sandman, the Green Goblin, Venom, Doctor Octopus, etc. etc. and there's Spiderman to save the day. Very exciting, and awesome animation and graphics. Very good!.

.the streets.

.Snoopy and friends.

.the Jaws ride.

.the streets.

.the E.T Adventure showcase. nothing much, and the commentaries were all in Japanese, how to understand?. LOL.

.i remembered watching the movie way back during Form 1, great movie, very touching.

.Sesame Street.

.one of the TV shows i used to watch.

(:

.the huge Christmas tree.

.the Jurassic Park ride. .i regret not going for this ride. .because my baby brother was reluctant to get wet even though you could buy a poncho/raincoat for 300 yen. *grrr*.

.just wanted to take the picture of the snowman and the candy cane man. HAHA!

.Universal Studio globe.

.the Hard Rock cafe and the Hard Rock shop.

.bought a Hard Rock jacket here. (:

After being at the Universal Studio for almost a day, we went to check in our hotel, the Cross Hotel in Osaka and we had our dinner, shabu shabu. Below are the pictures of the streets near the hotel and the restaurant.

.Shin Sai Bashi-Suji signboard.

.the food street.

.the food street.

.behind is the Shin Sai Bashi-Suji shopping street.

.damn lot of people.

.that's the Glico signboard. the brand of the Rocky or Pocky biscuit sticks. (:

.the sumptuous Japanese ramen!. .(pork noodle).

.i still cannot forget the taste.

.the noodle is very Q and springy. .the soup is clear but it's tasteful, makes you want to drink more and eat more!.

.and it costs 600 yen. around RM20 something.

.and it's delicious!. ~yummy!.

.the tako tao shop at the food street.

.the takos do taste quite different from what we have here in Jusco. .i think the difference is in the sauce and they don't have vegetable and mayonnaise in the takos.

.6 tako balls for 380 yen.

.the view from my hotel room, Cross Osaka Hotel at around 6 a.m. Japan time.

.Japan's time is one hour earlier than Malaysia.

After breakfast, we left Osaka and headed to Kyoto, formerly the imperial capital of Japan. It was not destroyed by the Americans during the World War II because the Chinese government decided to preserve Kyoto as it was famous for its spiritual or religious influence, where it houses over 2000 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, as well as gardens and palaces.

The first stop was the Kiyomizu Temple, a Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto.

.the entrance to the Kiyomizu Temple.

.the inside of the temple.

.the main hall of the temple.

.the main hall of the temple with a large veranda.

.not one nail is used to build the temple. it is only supported by the pillars.

.the view of the main hall.

.this picture is taken from Wikipedia.

.this is the Otowa-no-taki, a natural waterfall from the mountains of the temple that falls into the pond. drinking the water from the three streams is said to confer wisdom, health, and longevity.

.you're supposed to take the water with that long cup.

.don't worry. it's sterilised by UV light.

.didn't managed to take this picture because i went up to drink it.

.hehe.

.the view of the surroundings walking down from the temple.

.this is the streets that we had to walk through to reach the temple.

.the streets are called Togenzaka, Sanenzaka and Ninen-zaka.

Our second stop was the Heian Shrine. A memorial to remark the 1100 years old of history.

.this is the main hall.

.the entrance to the Heian Shrine.

.there is a pool of water situated at every temple. it is used to wash the hands and cleanse the mouth before going inside the temple itself to pray.

After a brief stop at Heian Shrine, we went to the 3rd temple, the Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavillion).

It was built by a very very rich man. and it was once burned down by a fanatical monk.

.the entrance of the Kinkakuji Temple.

.this is the Japanese maple leaves. called momiji.

.see that golden pavillion there?. .that is the Kinkakuji pavillion.

.the top two stories of the pavillion are completely covered with pure gold leaves.

.it looks amazing right?.

.look at the reflection of the pavillion on the lake. awesome. *i photographed it* HAHA!

.on top of the pavillion stands a golden phoenix.

.a huge bonzai tree.

After visiting a total of 3 temples, we had to take a long bus ride to the station of the bullet train a.k.a Shinkansen. I forgot in which city. LOL. all i know is that we were heading to Hamamatsu by taking the bullet train.

.the Shinkansen tracks.

.the bullet train tracks.

.the incoming bullet train that is shaped like a duck's beak.

.inside the bullet train. it only took 15 minutes to reach our destination.

.Japanese people are very punctual, unlike Malaysians, especially the KTM. .They even come 5-10 minutes early. .That's why they are so advanced. LOL.

.the bullet trains have different shapes and different speeds.

.the bullet train shaped like a robot.

.there is another shaped like bullet but didn't managed to take the picture because it was going so fast!. .such a pity.

.the shopping complex where we had our dinner. *not that restaurant behind us* we had unagi with rice. ~yummy.

.the night view from our hotel room. the Okura Act City Hamamatsu hotel. it is the highest building in Hamamatsu with around 40 floors.

.we were staying at the 39th floor.

.and the hotel is shaped like a harmonica.

Signing off! (:
