Confessions Of A Shopaholic

" You know that thing when you see someone cute and he
smiles, and your heart kinda goes like warm, butter sliding down hot toast,
that's what is like when I see a store. " - Rebecca Bloomwood.

Everybody, especially girls should know the story by now as this movie is based by Sophie Kinsella's best-selling books "Confessions Of A Shopaholic" and "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan". Well, for those who haven't read the book yet, go watch the movie now! or read the book -lah. You could probably figure out the story just by the title. (=

Oh, but why watch this movie?

The reason? Isla Fisher.

I loved her since watching The Wedding Crashers, and Definitely, Maybe! (the awesome love story in 2008) simply because she shines and glows in every movie, plus she makes a super great impression everytime on-screen. IMO, i think she's a little underrated, because she's really talented. Therefore, i was delighted that she finally had the chance to lead a movie! Yippee!

Isla Fisher plays Rebecca Bloowood, a journalist who is very obsessive with shopping, and finds herself entangled in many debts. This movie wouldn't be a screwball comedy without Isla Fisher. She appears to radiate a natural comedy aura, and she carries it effotlessly. She displays an excellent sense of comic timing, and of course, her beautiful cutesy smile. Watching Fisher's hilarious antics portraying Becky might be the most pleasurable and relaxing thing to do because you can't stop laughing.

She just makes you accept the ridiculous and exaggerated notions (but it must be like that, to show how obsessive Becky's character with shopping) in the movie, you just cannot dislike her and thinks that she deserves the humiliation and stuff. Yes, she brings a likable factor to her character despite being a bit bimbotic at times, though i think she's unique and quite intelligent, but she's just a crazy shopper. and Isla Fisher manages to capture all that charm and unique-ness. lol. it's just super duper funny. XD

Also, she doesn't mind "uglyfying" herself on the big screen. For example, the fan dance scene, that was absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, hilarious, everybody in the theatres was laughing (actually everybody was laughing throughout the whole movie). It's just so awesome that dance scene.

ohmy, how can i not mention the clothes. Candy, bright coloured designer clothings, just only for Becky Bloomwood. she has her own style and sense of fashion that would kinda blow you away. lol. i love the colours!!!!!!!! and Isla Fisher is so prettyyy!!! XD

.Becky finds herself in a "shoe" situation.

.some of her expressions in the movie were totally priceless.

.i love the Finnish part! *slaps* "men like you were the reason i left Finland". XD

.Krysten Ritter plays Suze, Becky's best friend.

.Hugh Dancy plays Luke Brandon, Becky's love interest. He's hot!

All in all, if you're looking for a light-hearted comedy, Shopaholic is just the right one for you. It makes you smile and laugh all the way through and feeling sad when something doesn't turn out for the better for our heroine. Does it have a moral lesson? Yes, Becky learned her lesson quite the hard way and turned over a new leaf. It has lovable characters, ohmygod, Tarkie is so cute! and Fisher's portrayal of Becky, vivacious and exuberant. It leaves you wanting for more of Becky Bloomwood's antics. Good!

Boringgggg

I am so freaking lazy to finish my PBL research, though i'm about three quarters through. Such boring learning issues, midlife crisis and retirement being one of them! I find no correlation between the 2 of it, as in on the internet. Damn it! and other parameters to evaluate a healthy weight? shit -lah. all i know is BMI. *sighs loudly*
So, what is PBL?

Problem-based learning.

but what is it -lah?

It's like what you watch on House MD, it's a small group discussion, somebody leads the discussion, and somebody gets to write on the whiteboard. similar situation but without House's obnoxious remarks. we are professional and respect everybody's opinion. HAHA! but i still love him and Hugh Laurie.

basically, i still haven't got used to it. Everytime i have it, i stress. Ceh. What to expect? i only had 3 PBL sessions. and i feel lazy to talk sometimes.

imagine when i survived and graduate as a doctor, while having a conversation with my patient,

Me: where pain?

Patient: all over. my hands. my legs. my limbs.

Me: uh. ok. *examines patient*

Patient: *groans and groans*

Me: ......... *doesn't speak at all*

Patient: What do i have?

Me: ughh. dengue.

So, you get what i mean? Laziness of talking.

Oklah, this is just a joke, don't worry. =P

I won't be that cold and so not informative. LOL! *prays i will not be*

Sam realises that they always try to threaten him. He notices that they don't listen to him at all, and thinks he is utter bullshit.

but will Sam be afraid? No, he will not get intimidated by them, he will stand his ground and not waver at all. For he doesn't need to care about them, as they try to pull him down, taking away his confidence, and scolding him like a dog. He believes he can, and he will not be afraid. He can survive.

From now on, he will shut himself away from them.

He will survive. He will prove to them, and one day they will listen to him.

I experienced an excruciating severe pain in my thighs on Sunday. actually i had pain everywhere! i had never before feel this way, not even when i participated in the Red Crescent camp with challenging physical activities, and marching. I guess this a way my body is crying out for help as a consequence of not exercising for many months.

Our orientation theme? "Ground Zero"

We had an indoor treasure hunt on Friday themed "A Horror Night In IMU". Zombies are roaming around everywhere in the building and we had to find clues while trying to avoid being caught by the "zombies". Before the event, they showed the movie "Quarantine", i was looking down all the time, it was horrible -lah. the treasure hunt was pretty exciting, though we had to run here and there.

the next day, i had to wake up at the break of dawn for the outdoor treasure hunt at the Bukit Jalil park. It's the most extreme of all activites. we were "ragged". i had eggs, flour, sugar, some stinky milky stuff, oil on my hair, and it hardened up like gel. then my face had butter and flour and paint. the guys suffered more than us as they had their body dipped in some super stinky chicken insides, skins, and leftovers. They were freaking smelly after that.

We were asked to do all sorts of things, duck walked twice or more, did that caterpillar thingy up the hill (which was super difficult), human pyramid, pumping, using our legs to pass fruits around, man! all sort of crazy extreme activities. Though exhilarating, it's a freaking good experience and memory, like ya know, we went through the whole orientation thingy, we freshies, fresh meat and all. LOL!

and this week, i'll be coming home at 5pm everday! T.T
